Since 1951, CHKP has offered an affordable Cooperative Preschool and Kindergarten, with highly regarded teachers, play-based learning, and a deep sense of community. Our cooperative model enables a low student-to-teacher ratio of 4:1, with parents volunteering in the classroom. Academics are presented in the way children learn best - through play! We emphasize the whole child and foster emotional development through teaching conflict resolution, empathy, and kindness. Come see our natural playground with garden, log scramble, sand & water features. Students play outside every day, rain or shine!
Willow Tree Preschool is a home based program located in N/NE Portland for children 2 1/2 through 5 from 9 am to 1 pm. Willow Tree is Inspired by the early childhood practices of Reggio Emilia, Italy, we offer an eclectic progressive program in a safe, nurturing place for children to explore, inquire, socialize, create, dance, sing, laugh, play make meaning and learn in an environment rich with opportunities and engaging project work. Weekly work with our art/studio teacher deepens and enhances our focus of the moment, we also have weekly visits with our music teacher, as well as our yoga/movement teacher.
Woodhaven School is a parent-run cooperative school dedicated to fostering a lifelong love of learning in our children. As a secular and independent school for preschool and older children, Woodhaven strives to nurture the whole child – socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually – through play. The curriculum is inspired by the elements of Waldorf education and reflects the sense of wonder and reverence that children experience in the natural world. Nestled in the Hollywood district of Northeast Portland, Rose Creative Preschool provides a stimulating, nurturing preschool environment where children explore, question, and play. We take into account the stages of child development and treat cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development as interdependent and equally important. We serve children ages 3-5 years in two play based classrooms. Our school views children as: competent, creative, innovative, critical thinkers, and problem solvers.
