Founded in 1845, New England Historic Genealogical Society is one of the oldest genealogical organizations in Boston. The organization specializes in the collection and preservation of genealogical and historical matter related to New England families. It maintains a collection of books, databases, manuscripts and research materials. Its manuscript collection includes articles, images, charts, and Bible, town, cemetery and church records. The association also specializes in the publication of genealogical guidebooks, source records, classic reprints, and scholarly and educational monographs. In addition, New England Historic Genealogical Society serves as a cultural and educational center. It organizes various events, including seminars, historical presentations and guest lectures. The organization also publishes a journal, "The New England Historical and Genealogical Register" for its members.

Simmons University

Simmons College, located in Boston, is a four-year, private undergraduate women's college, with a comprehensive liberal arts curriculum. It also offers coeducational graduate programs in health studies, education, communications management, social work, and library and information science. The college offers bachelor s, master s and doctoral degrees to more that 4,500 students. The college s campus and facilities include a library, science and computer laboratories, media center, and a sports center with indoor running track, swimming pool, and weight and cardiovascular training rooms. Simmons College provides on-campus housing, dining hall, caf and convenience store. It also offers more than 50 student clubs and organizations, community outreach and service learning programs and varsity teams. It has a six-college collaboration that allows students to cross-register for courses and participate in activities at institutions, including the Emmanuel College, Massachusetts College of Art, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and Wheelock College.
