Mission Santa Cruz

Founded in 1791, for the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, the Franciscan order set up the Mission Santa Cruz. It is a religious site for the conversion of natives to Christianity, starting with the Ohlone and then the Yokuts. Still an active parish, the church lies next to the a replica of the original church which today functions as a chapel.
