Zebulon Latimer House

Originally built in 1852, the Latimer House is a beautifully preserved example of the opulent, Italianate architectural style favored by the well-to-do merchants of the Victorian era. The house appears frozen in time, furnished with over 600 relics including the original chandeliers, jewelry, artwork, photographs and furniture. The house was built upon a symmetrical design with rich architectural details and intricate embellishments that reflect the high-brow taste of its original owners. Today, Latimer House is home to the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society, and is operated as a house museum and event venue. The house is sheltered from the modern world by lace brick and stucco walls, nestled at the heart of a splendid garden, rife with flowering plants and charm. Guided tours of the house are offered from Monday through Saturday for a small fee.

Battleship North Carolina

Battleship North Carolina or USS North Carolina (BB-55) was the battleship that was used during the Second World War. The warship was in use from 1941 right through 1947 and served multiple wars through its existence. The battleship was then struck in 1960, post which it was docked at the Wilmington port in 1962 to be served as a ship museum. The Ship has been renovated so as to showcase its pristine image and glory that it faced during its service.
