Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site

A visit to the Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site is a must for history buffs who are interested in the American Revolution. Washington based his operations out of the Hasbrouck Farmhouse from 1782 to 1783. The Tower of Victory is a commemorative monument that marks the leaving of the Continental army from Newburgh.

Madam Brett Homestead

Madam Brett Homestead is located ideally in the middle of a picturesque landscape and was built around 1709. The house served as the residence for the Brett family for almost seven generations and was also used for storage during the American Revolutionary War. The structure is one of the oldest buildings in the area and was registered under the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The house has a total of seventeen rooms and a sloped roof, cedar shingles and a dutch door with all the original furnishings intact to add on. The house is currently owned and managed by the Daughters of American Revolution and serves as a historic house museum.

Wilderstein Historic Site

Wilderstein was the riverside mansion of Thomas Suckley. After being occupied by the Suckley family from the 1800s till 1991, the Wilderstein Preservation Society now owns the Queen Anne Style structure. The mansion is now open as a museum and has a collection of household artifacts, furniture, and many other items used by its former inhabitants. On a visit to the mansion one can admire the architectural work and know more about the lifestyle of the people during the period. The beautiful landscaped gardens offer mesmerizing river views and several trails to go hiking.
