Historic Joseph Horton House

Originally a part of a 250-acre (100 hectares) estate, the Historic Joseph Horton House is located in New Hackensack, east of state route 376. Built in the eighteenth century, the country house was a farm owned by one family for nearly a hundred years, before it was sold in parts by eventual buyers. The house is available for private tours by appointment only.

Slabsides

Approximately a mile (1.6 kilometers) east of Riverby, in Westpark, New York, lies the log cabin by renowned naturalist John Burroughs and his son. It was constructed in 1895 and is spread over a nine-acre (3.6-hectare) long hilly trail. A highlight here is the picturesque John Burroughs Sanctuary. The grounds are accessible all year round, although the cabin can be visited only on two specified days throughout the year. The hiking trails provide for a great recreational and adventurous streak for the tourists. It was added to the prominent National Register of Historic Places in the year 1968.

Wappingers Falls Historic District

The Wappingers Falls Historic District spans across the South Avenue, West Main Street and Wappinger Creek. This area represents the industrial era of Wappingers Falls (somewhere around the 19th Century). The Mesier-Brewer House and the Village Hall are few of the many contributing properties of this district.
