When you first lay eyes on this swimming hole, the name Garden of Eden becomes clear, for its pristine nature gives it an almost ethereal quality. Explore the beautiful trail as it leads down to this hidden gem located within the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. Swim around in the cool clear water on a warm summer day, sunbathe along the sandy shores, and have a great time surrounded by nature. However, don't dive into the water, for the water level is somewhat shallow.

Located near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Cowell Beach is usually crowded during summers. There is another beach adjacent to it called the Main Beach, so do not be confused with it. Since both the beaches are on the sides of the Santa Cruz Municipal Pier, there is plenty of food options for tourists. Cowell is known to be one of the best spots in town to surf. Stroll the beach, fish or swim, or just laze around, it is a nice spot to be with your family and friends.
