Fort Armistead Park

Located quite some distance away from the city center, the Fort Armistead Park is named in the honor of Major George Armistead, who earned the country’s love after bravely defending Fort McHenry against British assault, which has come to be a prominent event in the country’s history. As a military fort, it was closed in 1928, and was later bought over by the Baltimore City government and operated as a park. The park is, today, a launching point for jet-skies and boats, and thus, a popular destination for visitors as well as locals.
