Carroll Creek Linear Park is the result of a flood protection measure that was taken nearly 30 years ago as a result of the devastating floods in 1972. The park has not only tamed the floods but has become an attraction for residents and more than 1.5 million annual visitors. Public art projects decorate the footbridges crossing over the peaceful stream, and with the brick walkways it looks inviting for a stroll. The best restaurants and boutiques flank the park, and at night the park comes alive with its ornamental street lights. Numerous festivals occur here especially in summers drawing people from across the country; making Frederick one of America's comeback towns.

It has swimming pools, tennis court, baseball and softball fields and a number of playgrounds. You can also enjoy the octaves of the carillon bells hanging in the park while you relax in the lawn.
