When Portland and Albina were rivals, this 1891 park was Albina's answer to Washington Park. The park's designer was formerly a gardener at Washington Park. The German influenced, 33-acre (13.35 hectares) recreation area has eight picnic places available for group use; one has 28 tables, another has a shelter. Sports facilities include a horseshoe pit, lighted tennis court, and soccer and baseball fields. Plan to have your next family reunion in this lush setting.
George Park
Named after the former Senator Melvin Clark George, George Park is a great destination if you want to check out the St. Johns area of Portland. High riverbank cliffs and old trees that make tunnels out of the streets are common up here. With tables and shelters, the park is a great place for a picnic. The pathways take you for a nice tour around the two-acre (0.80 hectare) park and its surrounding neighborhood where the faces are always friendly.
At the northern-most tip of North Portland, at the confluence of the Columbia and Willamette rivers, lies this 104.16-acre (42.15 hectare) park dotted with picnic areas and marked by a looping 40-mile (60.37 kilometers) trail. A large natural-sand beach and an isolated location attract many people to Kelley Point Park. It is ideal place to take in Portland's natural skyline, dominated by Mount St. Helens and Mt. Hood, while basking in the summer sun.
