Salinas Park
One of the simple pleasures of summer life is being able to spend it in a verdant spot like Noel Heritage Plaza. In the summer the park hosts free evening concerts, and adjacent is the Ector County Library.
McKinney Park is not only Odessa's first community park, but it is also the center for holiday events. A great hangout spot for kids as well as adults, there is much to enjoy at this park, including shaded picnic spots, a jogging trail and a playground. Also available at this pioneer park is a community pool and a sprayground, which are great to cool off on an Odessa scorcher. In December watch out for "Starbright Village," as McKinney Park lights up the sky.
Redeemer Church
Housed within Museum of the Southwest, on Missouri Avenue, Marian Blakemore Planetarium is often called one of the best attractions of its kind in the Midland/Odessa region. The planetarium incorporates permanent exhibits, a state-of-the-art multi-media station, called Frances & Jack Brown Science Center, and most popularly, the Helen Greathouse Educational Discovery Dome. The magnificent Spitz SciDome towers over 40 feet (12.19 meters) and features high definition programs that are, arguably, the very highlight of a visit to the planetarium. Open all week, except Mondays and Sundays, Marian Blakemore Planetarium makes for an interesting visit.
