Smitty's Grill

By looks alone, this restaurant should be granted five stars. In the food department, it's not to far off the mark either, the Zagat survey claims that it offers 'ultimate comfort food'. The menu offers the regular soup, salad, sandwich combinations as well as the Smitty specials, which include Homemade Chicken Pot Pie, Grilled Double-cut pork chop, the very homely Macaroni and Cheese with Ham and the delicious Braised short ribs. For die-hard fish lovers, order the fish of the day, which will come to your plate fresh or try the Northern Halibut or the Grilled BBQ Jumbo Shrimp.

Houston's Restaurant

Houston's is a flourishing chain of restaurants serving classic American cuisine and Sushi. Located in the historic neighborhood of Pasadena, this restaurant is graciously placed at the corner of South Arroyo. An artificial water canal at the entrance is home to Koi fishes, showcasing the Japanese influence. Decorative origami lights suspended from the ceiling, illuminate the dark surroundings. The wooden ceiling complements the dark finished tables and red sofa booth seating. A spotlight on the ceiling, lightens up each table individually, maintaining the privacy of the diners. The restaurant also houses a kitchen garden and fruit trees, decorating the surroundings and supplying fresh supplies. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Russell's provides simple, familiar American food throughout the day. Upon arrival, the marquee says, "Since 1930", however this restaurant is a newer incarnation using the name of a defunct one. Nonetheless, since 1997 the restaurant has offered eggs, bacon, sandwiches, soups, salads and hearty entrees to the hungry Pasadena populace. Its located in Old Town Pasadena and it is a nice option when you want to support a mom-and-pop business as opposed to more chain venues located on Colorado Avenue.
