Historic Market Square

The historical center and heart of the city's Mexican culture, the square is the largest Mexican marketplace outside of Mexico. Here you can dine on Mexican food at one of several cafes, enjoy the lively sounds of Mariachi bands and buy wonderful blankets, clothes, leather and metal goods and much more, imported from just south of the border. The square plays host to many cultural events and fairs throughout the year, including Fiesta del Mercado (Party of the Market) in April and Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in November.

The Shops at La Cantera

Altar'd State is a rapidly growing women's fashion brand with more than 120 boutiques across the US. We offer a distinctive shopping experience with the latest fashion finds, the most sought-after accessories; plus, charming home decor and gifts. Seeking to inspire through action, the company supports a mission of standing out for good in the world.

The Shops at La Cantera

La Cantera is located amidst lush greenery and tranquility. The open-air location of La Cantera, while providing the same variety, has a feel different from that of a mall. Find departmental stores, women's and men's apparel and accessories, and restaurants in this shopping paradise. Victoria's Secret, Macy's, and Dillard's are few of the stores here. Dining options include Grimaldi's Pizzeria, Yard House, and The Cheesecake Factory.

North Star Mall

The city's premiere mall, North Star draws shoppers from all over the state and from as far away as Mexico. Anchored by Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Dillard's, the mall is also home to smaller stores such as Talbots and the Disney Store. The mall bustles with activity year round and even offers valet parking during the holiday season.

Shops at Rivercenter

As far as shopping malls go, this one is beautiful. Set right on the River Walk and attached to the Marriott River Center hotel, this mall is a dining, shopping and entertainment mecca. Although anchored by Foley's, Dillard's and an AMC movie theater, the mall offers scores of specialty shops and gift stores, as well as one of the largest parking garages downtown. Musical groups and dance troupes perform nightly during the summer months at the lagoon in the middle of the mall. Visitors can also board barges for tours of the River Walk from the lower level.

Alamo Quarry Market

San Antonio's newest shopping hot spot is a former cement plant, now renovated into a ready mix of shopping, dining and entertainment. Anchor stores include Old Navy, Bed Bath & Beyond and Whole Earth Provisions. The centerpiece is the enormous Quarry Market Movie Theater, which features more than eight screens with first-run selections. Enjoy specialty shopping at Restoration Hardware, Whole Foods Grocery or Pottery Barn. After dining at one of the center's restaurants, which include J. Alexander's and California Pizza Kitchen, be sure to enjoy a scoop of Amy's Ice Cream. This is a sprawling and diverse shopping center where you're sure to find whatever you want or need.
