T.J. Watt's one-month reign as the highest-paid non-quarterback has officially come to an end — as the Green Bay Packers just broke the bank on Micah Parsons following the blockbuster trade with the Dallas Cowboys .
On Thursday, it was announced that the Packers were trading two first-round picks and DT Kenny Clark to the Cowboys in exchange for Parsons, with Green Bay also signing him to a four-year, $188 million extension — an average of $47 million per year versus Watt's $41 million.
The deal completely shattered the edge rusher market, resetting everything we once knew about the value of these talented pass rushers — leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers looking like geniuses for extending Watt a month earlier.
An argument could be made that Green Bay overpaid in both the trade package and Parsons' extension, but only time will tell if this Madden-esque move will pay off.
