Tied for the third-most sacked quarterback in the league after one week, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers ' jersey was far from clean versus the New York Jets last Sunday — but he isn't close to throwing in the towel.
On Tuesday, Rodgers addressed the four-sack performance against the Jets — and while it would have been easy to throw his offensive line under the bus — he blamed his inefficient mobility.
"I don't think I was moving that well, so I think I ran kind of into at least one or two sacks," Rodgers said, via ESPN's Brooke Pryor . "So, I gotta do a better job of using my legs. You know, I might be old, but I still feel like I move around pretty good, and I wasn't moving the way I usually like to move. I thought the protection was good for most of the game. There's a couple fundamental things to clean up, but that's taking care of those guys. I just gotta get the ball out."
Despite Rodgers' veteran leadership on full display, the offensive line didn't do him any favors against the Jets last Sunday. LT Broderick Jones , who was responsible for three of the four sacks on Rodgers, acknowledged the struggles and shouldered the blame following the Week 1 victory.
Still, it's admirable Rodgers would take the heat for his protectors up front, as any signal caller would be understandably frustrated after taking the amount of punishment at the hands of the Jets defense — a narrative Pittsburgh hopes to correct versus the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday.
