The LSU football program is getting a pledge on Sunday from a talented defensive player. Four-star edge KJ Green is committing to the Tigers , per Rivals. Green is a big fan of LSU head football coach Lane Kiffin .
"All aboard the Lane Train, Geaux Tigers," Green said.
This is a big win for LSU . LSU had just lost a top commitment from another defensive player, Jaiden Bryant, who flipped to Miami.
The defensive star also had South Carolina , Georgia and Oregon listed as his finalists. He is a member of the Class of 2027. Green is from the state of Georgia, who recently visited LSU.
"Green is poised for a monster senior campaign at Stephenson High. As a junior, he tallied 129 total tackles, 40 of which went for a loss of yards. He racked up 18 sacks over 13 games, according to MaxPreps. Over the last three seasons, he's had more than 200 tackles," Rivals reported.
Kiffin is getting ready to start his first season at LSU. He comes to the Tigers after spending several seasons at Ole Miss. Kiffin famously left Ole Miss before the College Football Playoff in 2025, to take the LSU job.
The Tigers have not met expectations in recent years. Brian Kelly was fired as head coach during the 2025 season. LSU fans expect Kiffin to compete for national championships at the school.
Before his time with Ole Miss, Kiffin worked as head coach at Tennessee , USC and Florida Atlantic. He also was an assistant at Alabama under Nick Saban. Kiffin was also briefly a head coach in the NFL, with the Oakland Raiders.
The LSU football team kicks off the 2026 campaign on September 5th. The Tigers take on Clemson.
