The Los Angeles Angels have had yet another season to forget. Angels star Mike Trout is dealing with a hamstring injury, which makes things for this club even more difficult. Trout is teasing though that he could return soon.
" Mike Trout is on the field taking batting practice right now. He said he ran at about 90% today, with "no pain." He isn't setting a firm date for his return, but he said it could be as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday in Texas ," Angels beat writer Jeff Fletcher posted Saturday on X, formerly Twitter.
Trout is the face of this Angels team. Los Angeles though has struggled for years, but Trout has been a consistent source of offense. This season, the slugger is hitting at a .234 batting average.
Trout has 17 home runs and 36 RBIs on the season. He was also just selected once again as a Major League Baseball All-Star.
"Trout was officially voted in as a starting outfielder on Saturday, marking his 12th career All-Star Game selection and the 11th time he's been elected as a starter. Trout leads all active players in All-Star Game selections, but hadn't been named one since 2023 after suffering a torn meniscus in his knee that plagued him in '24 and '25," MLB.com reported.
The slugger was honored to be selected.
"It was definitely on my list when it came out, so it's pretty cool," Trout said. "Just the kids, friends, family. It just means a lot."
Angels fans are glad to see Trout get the honor. There hasn't been much to cheer about this season for Angels fans . Los Angeles is dead last in the American League West, with a 36-54 record.
The Angels play the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, and will try to snap a five-game losing streak.
