The Braves also selected outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to the major league roster and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. To clear room on the 40-man roster, Atlanta transferred Sean Murphy to the 60-day injured list, further clarifying the club's immediate catching picture.
The catching move by the Braves stood out because Tromp had struggled offensively during a thin stretch at the position. Wynns provides Atlanta more experience behind the plate as the team waits for Murphy's recovery and searches for steadier production from its backup options.
The Braves announced the full transaction sequence Thursday on X, formerly Twitter, before their series finale vs. the Toronto Blue Jays.

Tromp's designation reflected the urgency around the position. He had hit .200 with a .432 OPS and only one hit over his last nine games, leaving Atlanta looking for a more dependable option.

Murphy's move to the 60-day injured list confirms the Braves will continue without their top catcher for the near term. That leaves Wynns positioned to help stabilize the group.
Keirsey's selection also carried roster importance beyond the major league roster. The team protected the outfielder by adding him to the 40-man roster before sending him back to Gwinnett.
