The clock is ticking on Giannis Antetokounmpo 's stint with the Milwaukee Bucks ; the two sides appear to not be seeing eye to eye more often than ever, and the Bucks are in dire need of an infusion of young talent and draft picks. All these factors make it that much more likely that Antetokounmpo's time with the team is already over, with the Bucks looking to trade him away this offseason to kickstart their rebuild and give the franchise's greatest player a chance to compete for a title elsewhere .
Antetokounmpo is still only 31 years of age, so there is still plenty of time for him to chase what is proving to be a very elusive second ring. He can stay with the Bucks all he wants to prove his loyalty, but a 32-50 finish amid the team's bleak outlook does not seem very promising.
The Bucks star even admitted that this past season was the toughest one of his career, although he vowed to return stronger than ever.
"Year 13 ✅📖 This has been one of the toughest seasons of my career, but as they say, like a phoenix from the ashes, I'll rise.💯 To the city of Milwaukee, MY city, thank you for the unwavering love and support. 🤎," Antetokounmpo wrote on his official account on X (formerly Twitter).
Antetokounmpo clearly loves the city of Milwaukee, and if it were up to him , it certainly looks like he wants to be a lifer. Perhaps that is still in the cards; he already won a title in 2021, so it's not like his legacy isn't yet complete.
But the extreme competitor in Antetokounmpo means that a Bucks exit still seems to be the likeliest outcome in this scenario. The grass is not guaranteed to be greener , but the Bucks' future is looking so dire that anywhere else might be an improvement.
