The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday to complete a three-game sweep. They have now won 10 of their last 11 games, with a big series against the Seattle Mariners looming. Diamondbacks 2nd baseman Ketel Marte smoked two singles on Wednesday, which has him on the precipice of a franchise record.

" Ketel Marte is the first [Diamondbacks] player to have 11 straight multi-total base games since Justin Upton in July, 2011. The franchise record is an even dozen, by Chad Tracy, in September, 2005," statistician Ryan M. Spaeder reported.
Marte was struggling through his first 42 games before the streak began, with a dreadful .619 OPS and just 15 RBI. With the high-flying Los Angeles Dodgers in the division, the Diamondbacks need to get off to good starts. But since their winning ways began, the star second baseman has been unstoppable.
In the last 11 games, Marte is hitting over .500 with a ridiculous .894 slugging percentage and 1.432 OPS. The Diamondbacks have turned their season around in that stretch, which is no coincidence. Early in the year, they were struggling as Marte and Nolan Arenado floundered at the plate. Now, they are in the Wild Card race.
The Diamondbacks' streak is propped up by wins against the two bottom feeders of the division. But wins against the Colorado Rockies and the Giants count just the same as the rest. Plus, the Dodgers are going to beat up on those teams, too, so keeping pace is important.

Marte could tie Chad Tracy's franchise record on Friday against the Seattle Mariners. If he does that, the record will be on the line on Saturday night against his former team. With the way he is going right now, it is hard to imagine even the Seattle pitching staff holding Marte to one total base.
Will the Marte and the Diamondbacks take care of business against the Mariners?
