Now another former member of the Sox and current Los Angeles Dodger , Mookie Betts , has spoken out about Cora, per David Vassegh of MLB Network.

“That ain’t got nothing to do with me and I stay out of that,” Betts said.

Betts played for Cora for two years in Boston. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Red Sox and would make his MLB debut with the club in 2014. In that time, he would win four Gold Glove Awards, three Silver Slugger Awards, be a four-time All-Star, and win the 2018 AL MVP Award.

That 2018 season would be his first year with Cora as his manager. Betts hit .346 that year with 32 home runs and 80 RBIs, while the team won the World Series. The next season, the Red Sox went just 84-78 and missed the playoffs. As Betts was approaching free agency, and the Red Sox wanting to gather prospects, they traded the former MVP to the Dodgers ahead of the 2020 season.

That same season, Cora would not be the manager of the Red Sox, but was rehired by the club going into the 2021 campaign. He made the playoffs just twice in the subsequent seasons, and was just 10-17 this year before being fired.

As for Betts, he is looking to return to the Dodgers lineup soon . He has played just eight games so far this year, and has been on the IL due to an oblique injury.
