The New York Mets have officially placed infielder Jorge Polanco on the injured list, the team announced. In a move that is retroactive to April 15, Polanco has been placed on the 10-day IL with a right wrist contusion. Polanco has also dealt with an Achilles issue . It was recently revealed that Polanco was battling a wrist injury as well.
In a corresponding move, catcher Hayden Senger was recalled from Triple-A.
With Juan Soto already dealing with an injury, the Mets’ lineup will feel the effects of Polanco’s injury absence as well. The 32-year-old was hitting just .179/.246/.286 before suffering the injury. However, New York signed him for a reason during the offseason. He is a veteran with a proven track record.
Further updates will continue to be monitored and provided on Jorge Polanco’s injury status as they are made available.
Meanwhile, Senger is a 29-year-old catcher who made his MLB debut in 2025. He appeared in 33 games for New York a season ago, hitting .181 in 33 total games. In 12 games at Triple-A this season, Senger slashed .257/.316/.714 across 35 at-bats. He also hit five home runs during that span.
The Mets certainly need all of the offensive help they can get at the moment. The lineup has struggled at an alarming rate so far in 2026. Perhaps, Senger can bring his home run prowess to the big league level.
New York currently holds a 7-13 overall record. The Mets will try to get back on track on Saturday afternoon at 2:20 PM EST against the Cubs in Chicago .
