The MLB Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching , which means it is mock trade season. Most fans know that their team has a chance to make the playoffs, so they want some of the best players on the market traded to their team. But The Athletic's Jim Bowden says that the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants are two of the six true sellers ahead of the trade deadline.
"Every AL team is within 5 games of playoffs except the [Angels and Royals] … Every NL team is within 5.5 games of playoffs except the [Mets, Reds , Giants, Rockies ] …Therefore, as of today they should be the 6 sellers …all other trades should be considered contender to contender," Bowden posted on social media.
The Mets and Giants are seen as the biggest sellers heading into the trade deadline. Not only are they way out of the playoff race, but they have intriguing players for playoff teams. Luis Arraez and Robbie Ray from the Giants and Freddy Peralta from the Mets will almost certainly be on the move.

The Cincinnati Reds made the playoffs last year, but a brutal last two months have pushed them out of the race. Smaller names like Tyler Stephenson will certainly be on the move. But the conversation will be around bigger pieces like Hunter Greene and Elly De La Cruz . If ownership is not committed to giving them extensions, now is the time to trade them.
Things can change quickly in Major League Baseball, and there is still nearly a month to go before the deadline. Will any surprising teams end up as sellers before the August 3 deadline?
