Welcome to NFL free agency.
The new league year (and official start of free agency) does not technically begin until Wednesday, but teams can begin negotiating (and reach verbal agreements) with pending free agents from other clubs at 10 a.m. MT on Monday. No deals can officially be signed until Wednesday (unless it's an in-house free agent, who can re-sign with his current club at any time).
Before the Denver Broncos begin negotiating on Monday, here's a quick list of free agents for the team to consider. Note that free agency can move quickly, so some of these players could become unavailable shortly after publication.
Best free agents for Broncos
1. LB Devin Lloyd : The 27-year-old former first-round pick earned Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro recognition in 2025 after totaling 81 tackles, five interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and 1.5 sacks. Spotrac.com estimates he has a $20.1 million market value, which might put him out of the Broncos ' budget.
2. LB Alex Anzalone : The 31-year-old veteran was drafted by the Saints in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft ( New Orleans was coached by Sean Payton at the time). He's played for the Lions since 2021, totaling 95 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one interception last fall.
3. LB Justin Strnad : After starting 16 games over the last two seasons, Strnad has made it clear he does not want to re-sign unless he's given a full-time starting role . The 29-year-old linebacker has recorded 131 tackles and 7.5 sacks since 2024. UPDATE : Strnad re-signed with Denver on a three-year deal .
4. LB Quay Walker : A former first-round pick, Walker racked up 469 tackles, nine sacks and one interception (returned for a touchdown) in four seasons (57 starts) with the Packers . The 25-year-old defender should draw plenty of interest during free agency.
5. LB Alex Singleton : Another in-house free agent, Singleton totaled 135 tackles last fall, once again leading the team despite missing one game after undergoing surgery to remove testicular cancer. Denver has said they want to re-sign both Strnad and Singleton , but it's hard to imagine that being possible if Dre Greenlaw remains with the club on his current contract. Singleton will turn 33 in December.
6. LB Leo Chenal : The two-time Super Bowl champion has totaled 218 tackles, seven sacks and one interception through his first four years (44 starts) with the Chiefs . The 25-year-old linebacker's rookie contract is set to expire Wednesday, making him an unrestricted free agent.
7. RB Kenneth Walker (25): The Super Bowl MVP is the top running back available after the Jets opted to use their franchise tag on Breece Hall . After rushing for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns last season, Walker has a projected market value between $12 million and $16 million per season. That's a big price, and it might be more than Denver's willing to spend.
8. RB Tyler Allgeier (25): There's no shame in being the RB2 behind Bijan Robinson , and Allgeier was a 1,000-yard rusher before Robinson arrived in Atlanta . Allgeier rushed for 514 yards and eight touchdowns last season, and he's one of the best pass-blocking backs in the NFL. Allgeier is also yet to fumble after 737 career touches. When one considers that Allgeier's projected market value ( $5.7 million ) is less than half of Walker's, Allgeier might be an enticing option for Denver.
9. RB Travis Etienne (27): The former first-round pick quietly racked up 5,136 yards from scrimmage and scored 32 touchdowns in 66 games with the Jaguars . He rushed for 1,107 yards and seven scores last fall while adding 292 receiving yards and six touchdown catches.
10. RB Rico Dowdle (27): He might not be as flashy as the top RBs on the list, but Dowdle has topped 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons, scoring 12 touchdowns. He averaged 4.6 yards per carry with Dallas (2024) and Carolina (2025).
11. RB J.K. Dobbins (27): Dobbins ranked fourth in the NFL with 772 rushing yards through the first 10 games of the 2025 campaign before suffering a season-ending foot injury. He's been productive when healthy, but the Broncos probably can't count on him to be their RB1 for an entire season.
12. RB Rachaad White (27): He rushed for 572 yards and four touchdowns last season and could be a budget option to join RJ Harvey in Denver's backfield.
13. TE Dallas Goedert (31): A former second-round pick and Super Bowl champion, Goedert totaled 60 receptions for 591 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns last season. Broncos third-year quarterback Bo Nix would undoubtedly appreciate having that kind of red-zone threat.
14. TE Isaiah Likely (25): The former fourth-round pick was underutilized behind Mark Andrews , who just landed a three-year extension in December. Likely will now get an opportunity to go elsewhere and prove he deserves a TE1 role. He made the most of his rotational role in Baltimore , hauling in 135 receptions for 1,568 yards and 15 touchdowns over four seasons.
15. TE David Njoku (29): A former first-round pick and a one-time Pro Bowler, Njoku became expendable for Cleveland following the emergence of rookie Harold Fannin in 2025. He's now set to hit the open market with 384 catches for 4,062 yards and 34 touchdowns on his resume.
16. TE Adam Trautman (29): He reunited with Sean Payton after the coach became Denver's head coach in 2023. Trautman is used primarily as a blocker, but he's certainly capable in a receiving role, totaling 55 receptions for 587 yards and six scores over the last three seasons. UPDATE : Trautman agreed to return on a three-year contract .
17. TE Cade Otton (26): He spent the first four years of his career in Tampa, averaging 56 receptions for 545 yards and three touchdowns per season.
18. TE Taysom Hill (35): He's more of a gadget player than a tight end, but it's easy to imagine Hill reuniting with Payton to be used as a short-yardage runner with positional flexibility.
19. WR Alec Pierce (25): He might be the top young WR option in this year's free agency class, so that could drive up his price. Pierce totaled 47 receptions for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns with the Colts last fall.
20. WR Romeo Doubs (25): Another young option, Doubs hauled in 55 catches for 724 yards and six scores with the Packers in 2025.
21. WR Jauan Jennings (28): After spending the first six years of his career with the 49ers , Jennings is set to hit free agency after totaling 132 receptions for 1,618 yards and 15 touchdowns from 2024-2025.
22. WR Deebo Samuel (30): He wanted to land in Denver last year, and the Broncos " checked in " on his status but ultimately decided against trading for him. He's now set to hit the open market after hauling in 72 receptions for 727 yards and five touchdowns with the Commanders last fall.
23. WR Rashid Shaheed (27): The dynamic receiver/returner did not overlap with Sean Payton with the Saints , landing in New Orleans after Payton took a break from coaching. Denver might already have its version of Shaheed in Marvin Mims .
24. WR Mike Evans (32): The six-time Pro Bowler, two-time All-Pro and Super Bowl champion still has gas left in the tank, but his agent told the Denver Post the WR is unlikely to land in Denver if Courtland Sutton remains with the team.
25. WR Stefon Diggs (32): The Broncos attempted to sign Diggs last year, but that was months before he faced charges for alleged strangulation and assault and battery . The Patriots are set to release Diggs after the NFL's new league year opens.
