FOXBOROUGH — Sean Payton has encouraged Denver ’s crowd to get loud all season long.
Ahead of an AFC Championship matchup with the Patriots , the coach had a brash message for Broncos fans coming to Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday.
“They’re going to have plenty of rest after this one — two weeks,” Payton said.
Of course, Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara is two weeks from Sunday.
At his locker on Thursday afternoon, Patriots wideout Kayshon Boutte hadn’t heard Payton’s Super Bowl boast, but had an amusing response when apprised of it.
“You can rest in Cancun too at the end of the day,” Boutte said.
Asked if his team was deriving any bulletin board material from Payton’s comments, Mike Vrabel downplayed the remarks in his press conference.
“I think we’re plenty motivated for the game. I think our players are continuing to build confidence through the week,” Vrabel said. “I’m really excited to go out there and play.”
