FOXBOROUGH – After an electric first NFL season, TreVeyon Henderson was named as one of five finalists for the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
The Patriots ’ second-round pick is a finalist with Jaxson Dart (New York), Emeka Egbuka ( Tampa Bay ), Tetairoa McMillan (Carolina), and Tyler Shough ( New Orleans ). After finishing the regular season with 911 rushing yards and 10 total touchdowns, it wasn’t a surprise to see Henderson’s name on that list.
The rookie says he’s grateful, but deflected praise to those around him.
“I’m excited, of course,” Henderson said. “It’s been a lot of hard work, a lot of sacrifices. I just thank God for carrying me through, getting me to this point. I couldn’t have done it without my teammate as well.”
The Patriots selected Henderson with the 38th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, hoping to create a dynamic 1-2 punch with veteran running back Rhamondre Stevenson . Henderson exploded for 147 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots’ win over Tampa Bay. He added 148 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the team’s loss to Buffalo in Week 15.
His 10 total touchdowns tied Rob Gronkowski for the third most by a rookie in Patriots history. Henderson also set a Patriots rookie record, averaging 5.1 yards per carry.
The Patriots leaned on their run game down the stretch. Henderson finished with 1,132 total yards this season, leading the Patriots. Rhamondre Stevenson finished third on the team with 948 yards from scrimmage (603 rushing and 345 receiving).

Henderson said he’s learned a lot this season, especially after playing his first two playoff games.
“I think the biggest thing is just embracing the hardships and challenges,” Henderson said. “Everything is not always going to go your way. You just have to embrace that. There will be good plays, bad plays. The biggest thing is learning to stay focused and continuing you onto the next play.”
Now, Henderson is one win away from playing in his first Super Bowl.
“Man, it’s exciting,” Henderson said. “The biggest thing is we don’t want to look too far ahead. We want to stay focused on this game right here and get through this one first. It’s exciting, though.”
