The 2026 NFL free agent frenzy is upon us, with the 32 NFL teams all able to contact one another's unrestricted free agents, and while Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan will be chatting up the agents of other team's free agents as he spends his $50 million free agency war chest, the rest of the league could be picking at plenty of former Pittsburgh players, as well.
The Steelers had 23 players who were slated to become unrestricted free agents this spring when the 2025 season ended. Several re-signed, several signed with other teams, wide receiver Adam Thielen retired , and the Steelers placed a UFA tender on quarterback Aaron Rodgers before he eventually re-signed with the team.
All of the rest are set for free agency, though just because they reached the contact period doesn't mean they won't return.
The new league year started at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, and the period for compensatory draft picks to count ended at 4 p.m. on April 27. The Steelers are not currently projected to gain any compensatory picks.
In addition to their UFAs, they Steelers also did not tender three RFA/ERFA players: Jeremiah Moon , Corliss Waitman and Jacob Slade , who are all now unrestricted.
Here are the players whose contracts have expired:
Unrestricted free agents will be free to agree to term with another team, starting on March 9. These are also the only players that count in the compensatory draft pick formula.
