The Seattle Mariners delivered a quiet Friday in barely winning 1-0 against the Anaheim Angels . But Randy Arozarena launched his own version of Fourth of July fireworks against the Toronto Blue Jays Saturday.
Arozarena got the crowd to their feet in ripping this grand slam to left field inside T-Mobile Park.
The right-handed batter swung and missed on his first attempt. But pounded the 85 miles per hour slider on the second pitch. Arozarena lured Victor Robles , Colt Emerson and J.P. Emerson home to lift the lead to 5-0.
Perhaps Arozarena's grand slam isn't a surprise to many MLB fans. Seattle is surging on the power hitting side during the summer . Including delivering this absurd home run stat back on June 9: Smacking 26 home runs between May 25 to that June date.
Now the Mariners sit at 106 total homers before the league's all-star break set for the middle of July. Arozarena's blast now hands him nine homers for the season, as he's batting at .280 so far this season.
Julio Rodriguez and Luke Raley both share the home run lead on Seattle, though, at 14. Designated hitter Dominque Canzone has pounded 13 homers this season. Crawford is the other Mariner who's delivered double-digit home runs this season at 10.
So Arozarena launched some pre-Fourth of July fireworks before the night fall. But the American League runner-up from last year is trying to keep up in the current standings. The Mariners are 45-44 overall heading into their showdown with the AL champion Blue Jays. They're currently 0.5 games behind the current division leading Texas Rangers .
