Two in, two out.
After signing star UFL wide receiver Hakeem Butler and cornerback/returner Sean Fresch , the Denver Broncos waived cornerback Paul Manning and receiver Michael Woods to make room on the 91-man offseason roster. Manning was cut with an injury settlement and Woods was designated as waived/injured.
Butler (6-5, 242 pounds) is a one-time All-XFL receiver, two-time All-UFL receiver and a two-time UFL Offensive Player of the Year . The 30-year-old receiver spent time with five NFL teams before landing in Denver, but he is yet to record a catch in a regular-season game in the NFL.
Butler had two stints with CFL teams, and he was arguably the best receiver in spring football while playing for the St. Louis Battlehawks, who played in the XFL when he first joined the team in 2023. In four spring seasons with the Battlehawks, Butler totaled 138 receptions for 2,192 yards and 20 touchdowns.
