The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially signed Gabriel Rubio to his rookie contract after selecting the Notre Dame defensive lineman with the 210th pick in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Rubio signed a four-year contract, the terms of which were not released. According to Over the Cap, his slot deal should have a Toal value of $4.63 million, with a $251,000 signing bonus and $4.38 million in salary.
Rubio adds size and power to Pittsburgh's defensive line, projecting as a run-stopping interior defender with the ability to anchor against double teams and occupy space in the trenches.
At Notre Dame, Rubio was known for his strength at the point of attack, physical hands, and ability to hold his ground in the middle of the defense. While not a high-volume pass rusher, he earned a reputation as a steady, reliable presence against the run in a rotational role.
Rubio reported for rookie minicamp on Friday and will now take part in the team's offseason workouts as he begins his NFL career in Pittsburgh.
Rubio is the second of the team's 10 picks from the 2026 NFL Draft to sign, following Iowa wide receiver and kick return Kaden Wetjen.
