Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow , who leads the NFL this season in passing yards and touchdowns, became the league's first 4,000-yard passer this season during the first quarter of Sunday's NFL Week 16 win against the Cleveland Browns at Paycor Stadium, on a pass to receiver Tee Higgins .
A short time later, Burrow found Higgins for a 2-yard touchdown reception, a pass Burrow threw just before hitting the ground.

"Just otherworldly for Burrow," CBS play-by-play announcer Spero Dedes said during the broadcast. "Just the upper-body strength to get this ball out. We're running out of adjectives to describe what we're seeing from Joe Burrow."
The Bengals need another MVP-caliber performance from Joe Burrow Saturday. Despite the Bengals' struggles, Burrow has passed for an NFL-best 4,429 yards with 39 touchdown passes and eight interceptions this season.
On Sunday, Burrow finished with 252 passing yards and three touchdowns.

Burrow entered Sunday's game needing 23 yards for 4,000 for the season after his 271-yard effort last week in Tennessee . It's the third time in five NFL seasons that Burrow has eclipsed the 4,000-yard passing mark.
Burrow set the franchise single-season record in 2021 with 4,611 passing yards. Last week in Tennessee , he broke his own Bengals' single-season record with his 36th passing touchdown of the season.

During the Bengals' win on Monday night in Dallas , Burrow appeared to be limping shortly after his facemask was grabbed and twisted by Cowboys rookie Marist Liufau , and he was shown during the broadcast putting a sleeve on his left knee. The injury did not force Burrow out of the game.
Two days later, the NFL announced it would consider employing replay assistance for facemask penalties.
Former Bengals QB Carson Palmer said last week that he was concerned about the " frustration on (Burrow's) face ."
Burrow said after the Dallas game that he's confident the Bengals can get receiver Tee Higgins to return next season.

During a Week 11 loss to the Chargers , Burrow became the league's first quarterback with 3,000 passing yards this season. He also made NFL history with his impressive stats in consecutive losses.
