SMU coach Andy Enfield believes star forward B.J. Edwards’ right ankle would have been ready if the Mustangs had found a way to advance out of the First Four at the NCAA Tournament.

This could prove to be a costly absence.

Former Tennessee basketball guard B.J. Edwards transferred to SMU and could face the Vols in the NCAA Tournament.

The Mustangs could be getting a key piece back as B.J. Edwards is listed as a game-time decision against Florida State.

B.J. Edwards had 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his second triple-double of the season and SMU rolled past Cal State Fullerton 110-63 on Sunday, improving to 9-0 at home. Edwards, the only player in the country with two triple-doubles this season, had 24 points, 13 assists and 10 steals in a 100-69 victory over Arkansas State on Nov. 21. Freshman Jermaine O'Neal Jr. scored a season-high 21 points off the bench and four other Mustangs reached double digits in scoring.
