This guy is such a snake.

On Saturday, the horses — Johnny Hockey and Gaudreau — will run in the same race at Belmont Park.

Normally in this series, we talk about every player who has worn a specific number, what they've done, and where they are. But today, it's only about one man, Johnny Gaudreau.

Meredith Gaudreau remembers the John she knew: "Thank you for the very best years of my life. Thank you for making us a family. Thank you for being my best friend, my favorite person, the man of my dreams."

Has it really been two years already?

Meredith Gaudreau, the widow of former NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, said the tragic events of the night him and his brother, Matthew were struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver in New Jersey "is just always replaying in my head."

On this day four years ago, the CBJ made what could be the biggest free-agent signing in NHL history by signing Johnny Gaudreau. No player of his caliber had ever reached free agency. Players like this are usually locked up long before hitting the open market.
