How does the NFL supplemental draft work?

What is the NFL Supplemental Draft?
Think of it as a second chance draft.
It's for players who lose their college eligibility after the deadline for the regular NFL draft, whether due to academic, legal, or transfer-related issues.
The supplemental draft happens in the summer, but only if eligible players are approved by the NFL.
If there aren't any, the league simply doesn't hold one.
Since it began in 1977, only 46 players have been selected.
Draft order is determined by tiers: teams with six or fewer wins, then non-playoff teams, then playoff teams, with a lottery deciding the order within those groups.
If a team selects a player in a certain round, it forfeits that same round pick in the following year's NFL draft.
Only real ball knowers can name a few people that were selected in the supplemental draft.
Bernie Kosar, Chris Carter, Brian Bosworth, and Josh Gordon, to name a few.
And maybe with Texas Tech transfer quarterback Brenden Sorsby entering the NFL Supplemental Draft, there will actually be a pick this year.
