The Houston comets are back
The WNBA's first dynasty is getting a second chance.

The Connecticut Sun are officially moving to Texas, but the journey of how we even got here is a doozy.
It started with a massive bidding war, ownership groups throwing around serious money, all trying to land the team and relocate it to their city.
At one point, it looked like a done deal.
The Suns' ownership had agreed to a sale that would send the franchise to Boston, but the WNBA stepped in.
The league blocked the deal and just like that, everything shifted.
Eventually, all roads led back to Houston with Tilman Fertitta, Houston Rockets owner, putting up $300 million, the largest sale in league history, to purchase the team.
The Sun will play one final farewell season in Connecticut in 2026.
After that, the Sun name is gone.
In 2027, they become the Houston Comets.
And for Houston, this isn't just a new team, it's a resurrection.
Before they folded in 2008, the Comets were the WNBA's first and greatest dynasty.
We're talking four straight titles from '97 to 2000.
After 20 years, the dynasty is officially back in the building.
