When John Elway threatened to go and play for the Yankees rather than playing for the Baltimore Colts?

Yep, this happened back in 1983 when the Baltimore Colts selected John Elway with the number one overall pick in the draft.

But before the draft, John Elway, who was also a top baseball prospect, indicated he did not want to play for the Colts, who were among the worst teams in the league at the time, and his father advised him against playing for head coach Frank Kush.

But Elway had leverage.

In fact, he was previously drafted by the New York Yankees and was serious about pursuing a baseball career.

The Colts, despite his refusal, drafted him first overall, but quickly traded him to the Broncos, and this trade is considered a landmark moment in Broncos history.

And Elway went on to have a legendary career with the team.
