2026 NFL Draft is the Most Important Draft of Ryan Poles Era
Poles built a playoff contender, but losing key veterans means the 2026 draft is crucial for sustaining success and bolstering the defense.

It took the, took General Manager Ryan Poles a little bit to get this thing going, but the Bears finally got over the hump in twenty twenty-five and reached the postseason for the first time since twenty twenty.
Poles spent many years carefully crafting this roster as he tried to build it towards a winning team.
He has done that now as he, brought in some very experienced veterans like Kevin Byard, Case Keenum, and Grady Jarrett, who all had their own roles in helping this team, get to the postseason.
Now that the, now the Bears have made the postseason, it's time to start building towards long-term success.
And, the twenty twenty-six NFL draft is definitely the most important of the Ryan Poles era for the sake of this franchise's future.
Marshall Harris went on one o four Through The Score to, share that sentiment, talking about how important this is and especially how, crucial that it is that, the Bears draft a solid, some solid defensive players in April.
The offense is not the problem.
The offense is going to be, just fine for many years to come with Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze, Luther Burden, Colson Loveland, and Kyle Monangai all running the show as they're-- And also they're all still on their rookie deals, which is even better for this, franchise's future in terms of the financial side.
The problem was definitely the defense.
The one thing that, that they were able to do consistently was, force turnovers.
But outside of that, they all finished inside the top fifteen for most passing yards, rushing yards, and points allowed per game.
That is just not something that is going to be sustainable when you, think about the Bears' long-term success.
The Bears were able to, address some of their needs after losing Kevin Byard, Jaquan Brisker, and Nashon Wright in free agency.
Those are just some of the biggest ones, and they lost some others on the defensive side of the ball as well, including linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, who was released to free up cap space.
On offense, the Bears also said goodbye to D.J.
Moore as they traded in the Buffalo Bills to free up sixteen and a half million in cap space.
They did address some of their needs as they brought in, safety Coby Bryant and linebacker Devin Bush.
But this, this team still has a lot of needs on the defensive side of the ball as, they could really use another quality edge rusher to complement Montez Sweat.
And they're also gonna need a reliable defensive tackle after how porous the rushing defense was for Chicago last season.
With how bad the defense was, it's going to be critical that Ryan Poles nails this draft, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
This is no doubt one of the most important moments of, Poles' tenure as general manager, and it's very important that he gets this right for the sake of the Bears.
