Will the Bears Keep the NFL’s 8-Year Offensive Streak Alive?
The Bears own the 25th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Most mock drafts have the Bears selecting a defensive player in the first round, but history states that general manager Ryan Poles will add to head coach Ben Johnson's offense.

Are the Chicago Bears about to break history?
Let's talk about that in today's latest video.
I'm Nicholas Moriano from Roundtable Sports.
When you look at the variety of mock drafts that have been published recently, and even ones that are the first edition of them, it feels like the common theme is that the Bears are going to draft somebody on defense.
And look, I completely understand that logic.
For a defense that struggled to stop the run, struggled to stop the pass, really the only thing that was going for them was the ability to create takeaways.
So there's an emphasis to draft an impactful player on defense with the twenty-fifth overall pick.
However, if the Bears were to do that, they would be breaking recent history.
When you look at the last selections with the twenty-fifth overall pick dating back to twenty eighteen, every single one of those have been an offensive player.
Jaxson Dart, quarterback for the Giants in twenty twenty-five.
Jordan Morgan, offensive tackle for the Packers.
Dalton Kincaid, tight end for the Bills, twenty twenty-three.
Tyler Lindebalm, center, Ravens in twenty twenty-two.
Travis Etienne in twenty twenty-one, running back for the Jaguars.
Brandon Aiyuk, twenty twenty, wide receiver, 49ers.
Twenty nineteen, Marquise Brown, wide receiver for the Ravens.
And then Hayden Hurst, a tight end for the Ravens in twenty eighteen.
Last time a defensive player was taken with the twenty-fifth overall pick was Jabrill Peppers back in twenty seventeen.
The year previous too, Artie Burns for the Pittsburgh Steelers, cornerback, was selected with that twenty-fifth overall pick.
So when you're looking at history, maybe Ryan Poles goes the other direction, and it wouldn't be the craziest thing.
When you think about what matters, what's always gonna matter is the quarterback, and Caleb Williams is the prized possession of this Bears organization.
Right now, the Bears have an open competition at left tackle.
Maybe there's one of those tackles that falls at twenty-five.
Does Ryan Poles pounce on that opportunity?
The Bears also did just trade away DJ Moore.
Does that mean you can add another wide receiver into the mix at twenty-five overall?
imagine the possibilities for Ben Johnson, giving him more firepower.
Look, I don't think that option especially is gonna be the one that the Bears take, but it's not crazy to think that they could still go offense here, knowing that they still have two second-round picks and also number eighty-nine in the third round.
But look at history, you look at the needs of this team, I still think the Bears are gonna go defense.
But it is interesting looking back at the previous years, although every draft is different, has different talent pools and where the sweet spot is for certain position groups, but it's just an exercise.
And history says the Bears, Ryan Poles, might take an offensive player with the twenty-fifth overall pick.
