Andy Green and Freddy Peralta on frustrating Mets loss to Red Sox
Interim Mets manager Andy Green pointed to the Mets going 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position as the most disappointing aspect of their 4-0 loss to Boston. He felt they had some opportunities despite registering just three hits but never got the timely knock when they needed it. Starter Freddy Peralta was equally frustrated on the mound, walking five batters and failing to get out of the fifth inning. He touched on a balance issue that seemed to throw him off his rhythm after the first two innings. Peralta: "It's a terrible feeling."

Andy, the Red Sox obviously have one of the better bullpens in the game.
How do you look at today?
Is it more what they were able to do against you guys?
Or was there, you know, an issue that you took with some of the, the at-bats in certain spots?
Yeah, the Rivera kid has really good stuff.
It's a unique fastball shape.
We didn't have good at-bats against him.
I think we had some chases early that allowed him to settle in.
Definitely wasn't our best day offensively.
We put ourselves in a decent spot there with the bases loaded and a chance to do some damage, and a couple times we put traffic on, we, we just didn't cash in.
So it wasn't a good day at the dish for us.
How would you evaluate Freddy today?
I thought he had an electric fastball.
A lot of swing and misses with it.
Was punching guys out with it.
Thought the walks, you know, limited his ability to go deeper into the game.
If he's able to pump the zone full of strikes with that fastball, he's going to pitch really deep into the game.
So, wasn't a lot of damage.
The one swing, got a fastball kind of down and in to Monasterio that got hit pretty hard.
Outside of that, it, it, it was just pitch count, getting deep, walks.
But I, like I thought it was very encouraging to see real life on his heater and see as many swing and misses on his fastball as he got.
I don't know what the exact number was, but it felt like as many, as we've seen against a team that honestly, like, handles fastballs pretty well, so they don't tend to swing and miss too often.
So I think those things are really encouraging.
Freddy, for you, what was the most frustrating aspect of today's outing?
The walks.
I think the walks, it was the, the, the issue that I had today.
Mm-hmm.
Andy was just saying that he thought your fastball had a ton of life, and that part was encouraging.
Why do you think that you just weren't able to, to throw your pitches in zone quite as much as you'd like?
I think, I was a little bit out of balance, with my, with my legs today, a little bit, at the end.
But I was feeling really good in the first three innings.
I think it was the, it was on the legs that I start, losing a little bit of balance.
You seemed pretty frustrated when he came out to take you out.
Just what was going through your mind in that moment?
No, that I sent in, that I wasn't You know, it's, it's terrible, terrible feeling, coming out before the fifth inning for me.
And, you know, I've been struggling, and I'm just working on it, trying to navigate through this.
It's been difficult, but not impossible for me.
Just, I never lose the, the hope.
Just keep working.
That's what I keep telling myself, and at some point it's gonna I'm gonna navigate through that.
