There is just nothing like the emotion of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat, and this Argentina team just keeps on doing it.
I stood with their fans here in Atlanta when it looked as though they were going out of the World Cup tournament to England.
They were losing the game in the 85th minute.
But the more they suffer, the sweeter the victory is in the end.
It was just an extraordinary day.
The raw emotion of these fans is just infectious.
They completely lost their minds when Enzo Fernandez equalized, and then the whole place absolutely erupted when Lautaro Martinez scored the winner in the 92nd minute.
The beer went everywhere.
It was just one sweaty mass of utterly jubilant humanity.
And, you know, for some of these fans, it was all just too much.
One of them dropped to his knees, and he slapped the ground almost in disbelief.
Another was just bawling his eyes out.
He seemed inconsolable, so much so that I had to check on him and make sure that he was okay.
You okay?
Argentina.
Happy?
Happy?
Yeah, bro.
You know, football is a religion in Argentina, and by the looks on their faces, you can see right into their souls.
This game, this team, and in particular, their captain, Lionel Messi, means everything to them.
