So with Springs, I know five walks, season high for him.
Just, what do you kinda see going on with him today?
Yeah, I think just a kind of a, I mean, a little bit of a carryover from, you know, in Minnesota when he came out of the game with the hip.
Probably some fatigue and, and lack of strength in that front side, led to a little bit of lack of command tonight.
I mean, overall, managing to get out of that fourth inning with only giving up one run, I mean, the pitch count was really high.
Obviously, he worked really hard for four innings, but, still, I mean, you know, the performance with, with pitching after coming out of the game and, you know, shows, shows some, some grit and wanting to take the ball.
We just, yeah, offensively obviously, kind of a different environment with the, relievers coming in for Detroit, but three hits, one run, just what'd you see offensively?
Yeah, offensively, I mean, I mean, it, it is tough to get, you know, some when you don't have consistent at-bats against a starter per se, but, you know, their relievers, they haven't been throwing the ball as well of late.
But tonight they executed their pitches.
You know, you saw some, some different guys, you know, and that, that we just couldn't get to really.
Yeah, and, of course, Morales gives up the grand slam and the other home run.
But, will you say that his recovery of his velocity could be something positive if anything in his pitching today?
Yeah, I mean, there's, there's still been, there's been velocity.
I don't think there's been ever a drop in velocity.
You know, we're gonna have to go back to the drawing board, with, with Morales and identified some things that he's doing, you know, that he may be tipping his pitches.
But at the same point, you know, still execution of the pitches, even though you throw 97, you know, it's gotta be executed.
It can't be in the middle of the plate, so there's still a lot for, for Morales to, to do, from a standpoint of just making adjustments.
Yeah, and could you talk about that play by Ornelas in his first game defensively, playing inside?
Uh- Yeah, the line drive catch.
Yeah, good play.
You know, obviously we had a play we, we didn't make, first and third, ground ball to Tommy.
He just got rushed.
I think, you know, that play's executed there, game's 4-1 with, you know, a, a runner on second, first and second.
So, game got out of hand in the eighth inning and, you know, up, up, up to that point, I thought we, you know, we pitched well and, and we kept ourselves in a game, when we were down.
Yeah, kind of to that point, I have two quick ones.
The, Brady all- pitched pretty well until that eighth inning and then just didn't really have it there.
But could you speak to the first two innings he, he had there?
And then, Kurtz, that diving catch, obviously you guys lost the game, but that diving catch, big play there in the moment in the third inning.
Could you speak to maybe what he provides defensively over there, how tall he is, athletic?
Yeah, he's athletic.
I mean, Nick does a great job around the bag.
You know, and, and obviously we saw that tonight in a big play.
But for Brady, you know, the two innings, obviously went well.
Pushing him a third inning, you know, there, we're just in a situation with the bullpen right now that we've been taxed.
He's been throwing the ba-baseball the best and, you know, for those two innings he, he had phenomenal stuff.
Made a few mistakes in the middle of the plate.
The, the, the slider to Valencia, it wasn't hit hard, but just out of the reach of Tommy.
You know, and then the mistake slider, for the double off the wall really.
So, you know, with Morales coming in, the, the expectation for him is to shut that inning down and, and unfortunately we just couldn't get it shut down.
Obviously it's been a tough calendar month.
I think you guys had the lo- Yep the worst record in the le- in m- the league and then I think the worst record in, in July for the franchise history since the 1930s.
Can you speak a little bit about like where you're, where you guys go from here in kind of these last two months and- Well, we gotta improve, right?
I mean, that's the fact.
For us, like you said, you know, it's never fun going through a month like this.
You know, we've got to turn the page and start fresh in August and, and stack as many wins together as we can.
