Big 12 Admits Replay Error on BYU Touchdown in 27-20 Win Over Arizona State

The Big 12 said Saturday night that No. 8 BYU should not have been awarded a first-quarter touchdown in its 27-20 win over Arizona State. Quarterback Bear Bachmeier fumbled on a sneak near the goal line, and Sione Moa was credited with the score after replay review. The conference said Moa recovered the ball at the 2-yard line, so any advance should have been nullified. The correct ruling was BYU ball, third-and-goal from the 2. Moa finished with eight carries for 20 yards and two touchdowns. The admission comes two weeks after Notre Dame, trailing 28-24, was denied another play against BYU when officials didn't review the one second left on the clock.
