He, he was one of these guys back in the day, though, played for a long time, played for the Blue Jays.

He had an auto in that set.

When you're buying a pack at time- Sure you can go 20 years and never pull a freaking autograph back then.

That was the first set I went back.

I bring that up a, a long-winded answer of that is the set that got me back into collecting.

The Jose Cruz Jr.'s 10 bucks.

It just means there are certain things that in the hobby we don't- But you're talking about the, the card hobby from knowledgeable standpoint, though Even from- For people coming in who don't know- But people have been coming in for years and their markets haven't, have barely moved at all but this is, this is a different thing than the last, like few years where people are trickling in.

This is people pouring into it, and you're- This is not different than COVID.

People poured in COVID like any other time they're spending no, it's not different than COVID, but it, during the same time in COVID you saw everything going up just like this Right, but again, you're missing my point.

My point is though, there's the thinking, and, and this has been in the Facebook group some lately, hey, at some point Manning's gonna close the gap.

No, he's not.

The same way- No Jordan and Kobe, there are better players than Kobe Bryant.

They're never gonna close the gap on Kobe.

It's just never gonna happen because on-field, on-court production has very little to do with your overall hobby value.

Y- again, I am not making the point- We're making two different arguments I know, I, I know that's what I'm saying I'm just going back to the- You can make your point original question of like, he is seeing like some, a bump in- Sure people buying in.

Why is that?

I think the reason would be- The GOAT market is hot right now I mean- Right and, and the GOAT market being- That's a simple answer a, a factor of the new people coming in.

I mean, I think- Maybe.

I mean, there's a lot of people, myself, who have just put more into it as well.

Sure.

Absolutely.

But the GOAT market has become a lot popular.

Both card- both guys who are in the hobby already- Yep and brand new, that's where they're gonna go.

Is go after GOATs.

And he is a very recognizable player off the GOAT.

Absolutely.

But again, don't fall into, "Hey, he's up a little bit," to, "Oh, but hey, let's start setting record highs with Peyton and Drew Brees stuff and all this."

They're never gonna c- they're never gonna be Mahomes even.

Sure.

They're not the most elite at that position in, during that time period.

We only like the best.

That's how it Mickey Mantle, same way.

Look at other guys who were great.

Ted Williams is probably as good a player as Mantle.

Nowhere near the market and never will.

So I don't mind the rise.

I, I, I've, I talked about this last show about taking some off the table, for one.

I think that's a good idea for everybody, just because we are seeing record high prices, and hopefully it does continue for a little bit longer.

A- and, and at this point, I couldn't tell you what's going to make it change other than seeing something in the overall market, like the economy get affected in some way.

But i- if you're also trying to protect yourself, I mean, I don't really know how to do that other than to be patient during it, especially if you are overall positive on the hobby.

Unless you are just like doom and gloom, this is a bubble that's gonna burst, that's a different story than the person- If you're, by the way c- and if you're that guy, just sell everything now.

Exactly, yeah.

Yeah.

But if you are not that person- But that's how I know no one, that's how I know no one believes that.

Nobody's having a fire sale on their stuff right now.

N- well, if they believe it, they don't think it's coming anytime soon at least.

So yes, yeah, I would say if you are worried about it coming in the next- Bank a few wins yeah, few months, go ahead and start taking a little off the table.

And at the same time, you know, think about what the hobby's going to be like not just three months from now, but how about a year or two, three years?

Some of this stuff is like if you still plan on being alive and you still plan on being in the hobby, do you need to move any of it?

The other thing is, like even with the stock market, I still own freaking FRO.

So especially with this being a hobby, number one, don't invest money you need to live in baseball cards.

If your bills on a monthly basis aren't paid- Yeah if you don't have a slush fund ready for, like, the emergency fund ready to go, don't spend a single frigging dollar on baseball cards, you idiots.

Unless it's like a really good deal.

Don't ever do that.

However, when you get to the point like, "You know what?

I'm putting this money into it and whatever hap-" I, I had a story.

But your cards that are like you're buying, you know, say, Pokemon or just base stuff like the flagship product, I'm, those aren't going to skyrocket in price, so they're not also gonna fall that far in price.

Yeah, the other thing is too, if there's no performance with w- like, Rolex doesn't tear an ACL tomorrow, you know?

I mean, I'm trying to think of, like, what their role was back in World War II and things like that.

That's the only thing.
