Brewers' Trade Decisions: A Missed Opportunity for Success?

The Brewers are a different conversation.
I don't know what the hell the Brewers are doing.
Why didn't you go for it?
You have the number one ranked farm system in Major League Baseball according to Keith Law and others.
You're stocked with talent.
Go and get somebody who's gonna help you right now.
Overpay for Skubal.
Like, like, you lost to the Dodgers last year.
I know Mizerocki's better this year than last year.
I get that.
But after that, you're gonna need him to win two games every series, and if he loses one of them, you're dead.
So, like, you're putting a ton of pressure on Mizerocki.
I know your bullpen is full of high leverage arms.
You feel very good about your bullpen.
Yep.
But your lineup is one through nine very good, but you can't add one bat?
You can't add someone that's gonna An impact player instantly?
You can't take some prospects, overpay for somebody, and get a bat?
Go for it.
We don't know if we're playing baseball next year.
You're Milwaukee.
You really are the one team that I think that could beat the Dodgers in the National League.
You got the talent.
You got the coach.
Pat Murphy's a great two-time National League manager of the year.
I just don't get what the Brewers did yesterday.
Bunch of small, like, middling type deals that really don't n- could impact a little bit or for a game or two, but, like, you got the prospects to make the, make those deals, and you didn't do it.
I just don't get it.
I, I, I don't get what the Brewers did yesterday a- a- at all.
The winners are the Dodgers.
The Guardians getting Foster Griffin is, like, the, the deal that no one's talking about.
That cat has made me I mean, I haven't been great in baseball this year.
I've been basically a 500 better betting on baseball this year, but Foster Griffin, dang, is phenomenal.
This kid's unbelievable.
I don't get why the Nationals You lock that guy down.
Like, he was in Japan.
He signed a one-year prove it deal, and he's been freaking awesome for the Washington Nationals, and you trade him?
I, I, I mean, I, y- you Again, if you're a Nationals fan, you're being told, "We're not gonna sign guys.
We found a diamond in the rough, so instead we're gonna flip him for prospects."
I don't like that.
I think that's a mistake.
Foster Griffin, I think, would be a phenomenal player to lock down cheaply for the Nationals to help their rotation for years to come, and nope, he's now gonna be a Guardian.
The Guardians get another pitcher to go with Gavin Williams.
The, I mean, the Guardians' starting rotation, they're starting to scare me, okay?
The, the Guardians are a team that no one's talking about that I think we should probably start to either look at their futures for the American League or look at their futures for the, the World Series and potentially get involved with the Guardians.
Because they can pitch, and now adding Foster Griffin, they can really pitch.
They got a, they got a lineup that is gonna be difficult for anybody to f- to, to, to face.
So I'm, I'm really interested to see how this whole thing goes.
And, you know, the Dodgers, and the Guardians, and the Cubs were the most active team of all the contenders.
The Cubs were really, really active, and they picked up multiple pitchers.
The Cubs were great.
I mean, I, I The Cubs are a winner yesterday with the deals that they went ahead and made, and I'm not sure we're really, we're talking enough about what the Cubs did.
And I mean, look, the Gossman acquisition was awesome.
The Clay Holmes acquisition and the Tyrone Taylor acquisition, Cubs absolute winners coming up here today.
I, I, I don't Yahoo Sports had this as Freddy Peralta going to the Rays.
This one through five is from Yahoo Sports.
I don't know if I I mean, Freddy Peralta, eh, okay.
I mean, sure, the, the Rays might be able to do some stuff with it.
But I felt like that was a deal that, like, the Rays made a move 'cause they had to make a move.
I, you know I, I like the lineup.
I like the offense for the Rays.
Their pitching has been kinda like, meh, I'm not all that, all that into it.
Ish is not a fan of the Guardians.
Foster Griffin, Blake Griffin, Peter Griffin, doesn't matter, White Sox in five.
Man, White Sox fans, you guys haven't done jack bleep in how long, and you're gonna talk?
Really?
You're gonna talk?
And I agree with JPC here.
Skubal and Miz was the Brewers' only hope.
Yep.
Overpay.
I know everyone's gonna hammer you, but, like, the Brewers last two seasons, the Brewers have been like this little engine that could.
It's been, like, so great, and yay, Milwaukee, right?
And they've been waiting for Mizerocki, and they've had, you know, Woodruff, and they've had other pitchers perform really well, and you're like, "Okay, Yelich is a good bat.
We like Yelich."
And you got other players who have been good solid top of the lineup type guys who have been productive for you.
But, like, you have the prospects to go rip a big bat away from somebody.
A clutch player.
Somebody who can come in and instantly change your fortunes against the Dodgers.
The Dodgers' lineup is ridiculous.
You have to find a way to kill Godzilla, okay?
You're not gonna kill Godzilla by, like, filing his nails, okay?
You have to take a bazooka and blow the thing's head off, and that's not happening in Milwaukee.
And that pisses me off.
Yes, do I have a 12 to 1 ticket on them to win it all?
Yes.
Do I like watching Milwaukee play baseball?
Yes.
Do I think they got a legitimate shot to take on the Dodgers?
I do.
I want them to beat the Dodgers.
I want them to actually have a chance to win, not just play them in the NLCS, but beat them in the NLCS.
And they had a chance, they just didn't do enough.
That stunk on that.
