Great news.
Keeping the fingers crossed he's ready to rock and roll, and it sounds like all, uh, we're we're at least leaning in that direction.
The Broncos most likely Bo Nix away, at least you can make the argument that injury , if it didn't happen, maybe we're talking about them in the Super Bowl last season.
Now we have talked extensively on this show about Sean McVeigh, the obsession with missing out on a Super Bowl appearance last year.
Is Sean Payton.
Kind of in that same boat right now.
Like, what do we make, Manti, of what this Broncos team could be, assuming Bo's healthy?
Well, for when they're on, what it looks like on paper, they, they, they should be one of those guys that are back up at the top of the AFC, uh, especially the AFC West.
But I look at them, they, they have the defense, right?
You have all the offensive weapons.
They've made some great additions.
But when I watched Bo Nix play last, last year, he was very, very, very inconsistent in my opinion.
When he threw the ball down the field, he really struggled down the field.
10 of his 11 interceptions came on throw throws that were over 10 yards.
So when I watched them, and Sean Payton, I, I, I played under Sean Payton for 3 years.
Sean Payton doesn't want to dink and dunk teams down the road.
He wants to throw that thing down the field, so I knew that limited him a little bit.
Um, under pressure, he had 4 touchdowns and 6 interceptions under pressure.
But more importantly, Bo Nix was one of the worst quarterbacks in team wins, and performances in team wins.
If you look at this graphic.
Bo Nix averaged 23.8 points per game in wins.
The only team with fewer points were the Cleveland Browns.
So if you're looking at Bo Nix, right, it, it was the second year.
There's a term that we use for players that are coming off great rookie years and then going into.
To a 2nd year that I'm not going to place on him, but his 2nd season wasn't as electric as his rookie season.
Now he's going into his junior year.
He's going into his 3rd year with Sean Payton, 3rd year under that system, 3rd year with those teammates, and they have Jaylen Waddle there.
I'm very, very optimistic as to what this could mean for Bo Nix.
Listen, he's been hurt.
He's not doing a lot of physical stuff, so all of the stuff for him is mental, and I think, really think that's what Bo Nix needed was a time for him to rest physically but mentally just to get sharp, because if he can get sharp, knowing what they have on paper , Willie, with that defense and all the offensive weapons, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Denver Broncos battling again at the top of the AFC.
Yeah, I think the goal for the Denver Broncos is not to be a, be a contender, it's to, to complete what they started out last year.
Let's get to the Super Bowl.
And I think if you're Bo Nix right now, you've played meaningful games, you've seen what playoff speed looks like, you've, you've had a successful season as a quarterback.
Now it's about taking the next step and delivering the, the Lombardi Trophy to the Denver because, yeah, the injuries is one thing, but everything right now is set up for you.
Only be a dangerous team, but to be an effective team, uh, effective team.
You gotta understand, being dangerous doesn't mean flashy.
It means that you could rush the passer, you could protect the quarterback, you can run the ball.
You do all the little things at a high level for this team to win at, at, at every phase pretty much .
So now if you're Bo Nix, you're going into the season, man.
You've, you've, you've, you have enough data on what it means to be an elite quarterback and how to.
Deliver for your ball club.
So under Sean Payton, man, I think there's no excuse.
You have one of the best defenses.
You have an offense that can produce.
You have a quarterback who's ascending.
Now it's about completing the mission, and that should be the campaign for next year.
The Denver Broncos have to complete the mission and go get back to the AFC Championship, into the Super Bowl and win it.
Yeah, I mean, I don't think he's in the same boat as McVeigh because McVeigh's been back.
McVeigh's been to a couple.
McVeigh's won one in the last decade.
The Sean Payton, his career history is painful.
It's excruciating.
I mean, you know, Manti, you were there for some of it.
That loss to the Rams was absolutely insane.
The only way you top that is this, is that you win a playoff game and lose your quarterback in the final seconds, and then we're in this, let's call it, it was kind of a sham of a title game.
It was very strange.
The weather, the backup, everything, and it's like ugly.
Sean Payton's been a one Super Bowl.
And he's one of the best coaches of this generation.
Who can we say that about?
He's got to get back.
He's got to win this thing.
I think he needs it and wants it probably more than anybody because he's sitting there and he's like, he's too good of a coach, he's too successful over too many years to ever win, win the title game once, just one time.
I've seen guys who I don't think are on his level win it more than that.
So he's got the team, he's got the young quarterback, Knicks will be healthy.
We'll see .
The West is nuts.
I mean, I, I the AFC West specifically.
The Chiefs are this massive mystery, and I, I, I, I don't indulge myself saying that.
I do think they are.
The Raiders, we'll see, and I think the Chargers are going to be excellent.
I think the Broncos are going to be excellent, excellent enough to win the AFC.
I don't know.
Sean Payne is salivating over a Super Bowl.
Like my three years with him, I was with him 2017 to 2019.
Boys, all he talked about was the Super Bowl that they won in 2009, and he talked about the memories and how about when you win, when you win, when you win that game, you ride on forever.
Uh, when we made it to the playoffs, you know, KB mentioned the NFC championship, that no call PI PI, the, the year previous was a Minneapolis miracle.
Every single time we made it to the playoffs we had the same spiel.
It's like, guys, we're, we're just right there.
Just do these things.
He had this thing where he would roll in, um, this big cylinder, um, the see-through cylinder of plexiglass.
It had cash in it and a Lombardi, and he said win 2 or 3 games.
And that's yours.
Like this guy, all he thinks about is the Super Bowl.
So knowing what Sean Payton wants and what his eyes are on is that, yes, today is what, May 11th, he's looking to February already.
Like he's been looking at it since they lost the AFC championship last year .
So, uh, he, he's hungry for one Yammers.
