After it'd been a minute, Bryce, great to see you.
Appreciate the time.
Let's start with that fifth inning.
What were you looking for when you stepped up for that at bat?
Yeah, just looking for something over the plate.
I kinda was expanding off of the zone in my previous two at bats, so just trying to stay to a small zone and get something over the plate and, worked a good count and, and, and earned that fastball over the, over the middle of the plate.
Hey, Bryce.
A little bit of struggle since the All-Star break.
I mean, that's just kind of the, the, the lumps you take as a rookie, up and down a little bit.
What have you, what have you told yourself, on a day-to-day basis to just get yourself ready- Uh-oh, here we go.
Here come the high jinks.
Yep.
Well, Willie was waiting for one of those- Thank you, Willie the other night.
Didn't get it, so.
Mm-hmm.
You know he's gonna dish it out.
Whoo, that's sugary.
Yeah, yeah.
It's been tough.
You know, baseball's a game of ups and downs and, it's part of it.
I mean, I know I'm a young player and I kind of remind myself of that every day, that these guys I'm competing against are a lot older than me and have a lot more experience.
So give myself some grace there.
But, just sticking, sticking true to my work and, and doing my routine every day.
I've had worse slumps, so I always break out of it and, I'm just gonna keep continuing to be confident in myself and keep trusting the work I'm putting in.
To the point of you giving yourself some grace, we have a graphic we're, we're gonna show in a minute here on our show of Giants rookies age 21 years or younger with 12 or more home runs.
You're one of five players on that list.
Some of the other names: Orlando Cepeda, Willie Mays, Jack Clark, Willie McCovey.
Like, what goes through your mind to hear yourself just amo- mentioned amongst some of those greats?
It's awesome.
I mean, I, I feel very blessed.
I feel very blessed to be a Giant with all the amazing history they got here and, you know, being here at a young age, I'm just gonna continue to keep proving why, why I deserve to be here, why I deserve to, you know, be in there every day and help this team win for a long time.
So, there's nothing I want more to win and being able to hear my name in, in those conversations is cool.
But the big thing here is, is winning and we, we know we need to be better, so keep focusing on that.
