Well, Rich, no doubt about it, Bryson DeChambeau is a star in the world of golf, but we haven't seen him play on the weekend in major championships in 2026.
Missed the cut at the Masters, missed the cut at the PGA Championship, and also declined to speak to the media at the PGA Championship in Philly.
Well, today, after his practice round, he did speak with us, and we asked him to d- to give his thoughts on a variety of subjects, including what he is seeing here at Shinnecock.
it's a difficult test of golf, just like we like at a US Open.
So I'm, I'm pretty pumped to, to get after it this week.
been practicing quite hard going into this week, working on different things, and, just honestly excited for a great test of golf.
you know, hopefully I play well.
You never know.
But for me, you know, I, I'm excited for the test.
I feel like my game's in a solid place now.
The fairways here are wider at least than they were in 2018 and in '04.
one of your many strengths is power.
Does this give you a little more freedom to utilize the power with a wide golf course?
Yeah, it's a, it's a great point.
It, it may.
You know, everybody's gotta play the same golf course.
you know, there's gonna be times where I'm hitting iron off the tee, and there's gonna be times where I might be a little more aggressive, depending on the wind.
So it's really wind dependent.
You have to control your golf ball, be a great ball striker.
Kinda try I'm trying to, to do what I did at Pinehurst, which is just iron play, just more middle of the greens and, and, and take, you know, a two, two putt from 40 feet.
it's kinda the approach and mindset I have this week and, and, you know, hopefully it pays off.
We'll see.
As I mentioned, a two-time US Open champion, how much pride do you have regarding that on your resume?
Oh, man, I'm, I'm so blessed.
I, I can't even believe I get to say that.
So, it's such an honor to be a two-time US Open champ, and, you know what, like, no matter what happens in life, whatever, wherever life takes me, you know, I get to say that's pretty special and, and very honored.
Final thing.
there's been a lot that you're weighing in regards to your competitive future.
Has that at all interfered with your focus to get ready for big championships like this?
Yeah, I'd say in regards to my competitive future, I'm always gonna be playing golf.
Okay.
I mean, no matter what happens, I mean, I've, I'm excited to play golf and, hopefully put on a good show anywhere I am, I'm at.
but I, I'd say that, you know, look, it, it's, it's definitely something that's taken a little bit on, on, I would say my shoulders and, and ultimately I've felt a little bit of weight there and, you know, it's time to play golf now.
It's time to get after it and work on, on finishing off these two majors strong and playing well the rest of the Liv season, and then, give myself the best chance I can to, to play as good as I can in every event
