Cardinals Pounce on Fastballs, Pound Two Long Homers and Two Doubles in 5-1 Win
Alec Burleson had a homer and a double, Jose Fermin added a solo shot and Jordan Walker chipped in a run-scoring double to give Michael McGreevy some much-needed run support in the Cardinals 5-1 defeat of the Brewers at Busch Stadium on Wednesday night.

As bad as everything was over the first three games of the Brewers, just that much went right on Wednesday night for the Cardinals.
This was one of those wins where a lot of people had a big hand in it, one of those team wins.
Alec Burleson almost hit a ball out of Busch Stadium, 443 feet for a home run.
He had an RBI double.
Jordan Walker was on base three times.
Michael McGreevy won on his 26th birthday.
He finally got some run support.
And Jose Fermin, who got his seventh straight start, hit a home run himself.
good night for the Cardinals, no doubt.

Cardinals won 5-1 on Wednesday night, a much-needed win over the Brewers.
They had actually lost seven straight games to the Brewers, needed this win in the worst way.
they won the first matchup in early May, and then lost, a game at Busch, lost three in Milwaukee, and then they lost the first three of this series in, in super frustrating fashion.
So this win was very much needed.
But, you know, give the Cardinals credit, they were ready for Kyle Harrison's fastball from the jump.
Mason Wynn opened the first inning, hitting a fastball for a double.
Jordan Walker pounded a fastball 104 miles an hour for a double.
Alec Burleson pounded a fastball 107 miles an hour for a double.
Gave the Cardinals an early 2-0 lead.
Fermin made it 3-0 by hitting a fastball 404 feet.
you know, that put the Cardinals up comfortably 3-0.
And then Alec Burleson hit a bomb.
The second longest home run of the season, third longest.
There's two of them that were 444, and his were 443 feet.
It hit off the second deck, the facade.
just a big shot.
Here's a key for Alec Burleson.
His double in the first inning came against a left-hander.
His home run in the sixth inning came against a left-hander.
It's been a struggle for him all season, so it's good seeing him make progress there.
one of the biggest night- moments of the night too, Luis Castellum, you know, a pro- a promising, reliever down in Memphis.
Had a great run down there all season.
He's 7-1.
He came to the Cardinals.
He got promoted today, having not given up a- an earned run over his last 18 outings in Memphis.
he gave up a sacrifice fly, but that run was credited to McGreevy.
Joey Ortiz did reach him for a double down the line, but he pitched out of the inning.
Andrew Vaughn came up in a 5-1 game, two runners on in scoring position.
He used that devastating changeup and got Vaughn to tap out, to, to end that inning.
So a very successful Major League debut for, for Luis.
And like I said, big night for Jordan Walker, big night for Alec Burleson, you know, big night for Michael McGreevy, celebrating his 26th win.

It's crazy.
Crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy stat.
But a, a good night for the Cardinals, and they needed it, 'cause Monday and Tuesday were, were kinda brutal for the club.
