Carlos Prates hints at untold story behind Mauricio Ruffy's loss

Carlos Prates said Mauricio Ruffy's defeat to Benoit St. Denis does not reflect the lightweight's ability, a point of interest as Ruffy enters a pivotal matchup. Ruffy is scheduled to face Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 331 on Sept. 19 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Addressing the prior Benoit St. Denis bout, Prates said he witnessed fight-week circumstances but declined to share details, adding, "That wasn't Ruffy in that Octagon." He called Ruffy the best in takedown defense at Fighting Nerds and asserted a do-over favors him. Ruffy is a sizeable underdog and now trains in Australia alongside Alexander Volkanovski. Scope is limited to Prates' remarks.
