Welcome back to Not So Fast, Perloff and Paps.
Okay, we already had week zero, but I think we're safe to do our national title picks now.
Now have you been spending the whole week chopping them up or are you still deciding as we speak?
No.
No, I have my pick.
I've kinda had this the whole time.
I went back and forth a little bit, but I'm gonna let you go first.
Yeah, to be fair to you, you went Heisman first.
I'll go national title pick second.
My one concern about my national title pick is this team, will they be challenged enough during the regular season?
That's tipping my pick.
Notre Dame will be in the national title game.
I think they still have the running game.
They lost some running backs.
But they have a great defense line, and C.J.
Carr is top level quarterback.
My one concern is being ready for that playoff run where you gotta win a bunch of ballgames against a bunch of good teams, because they're playing some teams.
Like BC's not getting you ready.
SMU maybe'll get you ready, but I don't know if Stanford's getting you ready.
So I'm going Notre Dame Texas national- Ooh title game.
A ratings bonanza.
The Manning brothers, Notre Dame, it's all happening.
Yeah, no listen.
I can't argue against either of those two teams.
Texas just seems to me has a l- has a long road.
I know they're ranked really high, but last year I was thinking Texas was gonna be my pick.
It didn't happen.
You really have that much faith in Arch and Sark and everything going on?
I, I do this year 'cause if not now when?
If not now when?
Okay.
I also have Notre Dame in the national title game.
I think their style of play fits well with the college football playoff.
I think Marcus Freeman is a great coach and he's really stacked talent, especially on the lines.
So Notre Dame's there, but they're gonna lose, Paul.
Wow.
I'm very sorry to say that because the Miami Hurricanes are going to be this year's national champion.
Now the two teams play on November 7th.
It's really the first challenge on the books for either team.
I think you're gonna get a rematch, which w- would be fun.
I don't know if it's a ratings of Arch Manning, but Miami, lost a lot of guys to the pros.
Lost Vonta Lane on defense, lost quarterback Carson Beck.
I'm not worried at all.
They totally restocked.
Darian Mensah at quarterback.
Their D is gonna be nasty this year.
Malachi Tony.
That's why I have him winning the Heismans.
I think they're gonna be the number one team in the country coming into the playoffs.
We should work in marketing.
We just marketed- Yeah two great college football national title games.
Miami and D, Michael Irvin's on one sideline.
Oh.
Jerome Bettis, Jerome Bettis is on the other sidelines.
It'd be star laden.
You'll be going back to the '80s Catholics versus Convicts, 30 for 30.
You run that all month.
That'd be the perfect national title game.
Yeah, I mean, did By the way, we, I don't think we called Indiana Miami last year.
